Today it is quite common to see that many people are obsessed by the idea to have their own DVD copy of their favorite films. DVDs are a new media for storing movies and people all over the world look for them. DVDs can be found in the video store nearby. Gathering a personal collection of DVDs is a favorite hobby for many people.

DVDs have some special features. Usually these features are regional settings, extra features or special editions. People look for these features when they buy movies online or locally. The additional extras the movie is wrapped in do not change its story and actors but for movie fanatics it does make a difference if the movie has extras or not. Some of these extras include longer versions of the movie, or unedited versions, or better sound and video parameters. Special editions, which offer such extras, are usually the first to be sold out. Generally, editions with extras are offered either until the amount is sold out, or on special occasions.

Collecting quality movies on different media is regarded as a hobby, much similar to other hobbies, like collecting stamps or cards. It can be more expensive to buy a DVD and the major factor for the price is the quality of the film.

There are classic collections from the pre-DVD era and they contain many fantastic films, which make sense to be passed up. In a nutshell, those are rare films and more often than not the only chance to get them is to copy them. Unfortunately, you can�t copy all the extras from the DVD but only the movie itself.

DVDs are better quality videos stored on discs. They are closer to the movie-like setting when we get the chance to see them in movie houses. While many may not be too enthusiastic about the film quality, DVDs are sure to provide good quality from original films packaged and offered for sale anywhere today. All that is left is to hunt them down and choose which DVDs you are interested in.

As a rule, DVDs are released after a hit movie has been shown in the movie houses because then people desire to get their personal copy of the movie. Basically, films are automatically released on DVDs. Usually this happens a couple of months after the film has been released to the theaters. Don�t worry � once it is announced that a movie DVD is released, movie maniacs will attack the stores.

Most people who love to collect DVDs would normally be alert on when they will be released. They have the Internet to use and of course through their neighboring video shops which are sure alert them on the scheduled availability of these films. Some even go to the extent of placing reservations in advance. The reason behind this is if one person is closely waiting when they would be available, then the same can be said of others who eagerly want to have a copy themselves.
