Gluten-Free Culinary Lecture Series Presents Leading Cookbook Author and Top Chef on February 20, 2007

Denver, CO (PRWeb) January 31, 2007 -- For those interested in nutrition and the culinary arts with a gluten-free focus, The Art & Science of Gluten-Free Gastronomy™ 2007 Lecture Series offers a menu of 10 remaining lectures and tasting demos to enjoy. On Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at The Phipps Mansion in Denver, Colorado, gluten-free industry pioneer and cookbook author Carol Fenster, Ph.D. of Savory Palate, Inc. and Executive Chef Matt Selby of Vesta Dipping Grill and Steuben's Food Service will present The Gluten-Free Flour Code and When Worlds Collide as the second of 11 monthly lectures and tastings that explore the art and science of gluten-free cuisine.
    
This February, take an in-depth look at the wide world of gluten-free flours and their culinary powers with a focus on flour blends for gluten-free creations and recipe substitution secrets that will help transform favorite wheat-based recipes into delicious gluten-free versions. Led by Carol Fenster, this presentation is designed to be a necessary primer for anyone interested in learning or brushing up on the basics and essential strategies for baking and cooking the gluten-free way using nutritious, artisanal ingredients.

And to pamper the GF palate with a signature style all his own, acclaimed Executive Chef Matt Selby of Vesta Dipping Grill and Steuben's Food Service (Denver) will demonstrate how to make a savory Wild Mushroom Tartlet with Goat Cheese and Roasted Tomatoes using selected gluten-free flours. An audience tasting of Selby's creation will top off the presentation.

Other chefs to be featured in the series include: Chef Instructor Eric Stein of Johnson & Wales University-Denver; Chef de Cuisine Curtis Lincoln of The Brown Palace; Executive Chef Devin Wade of P.F. Chang's China Bistro; and Executive Chef Adrian Heuer of The Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Additional chefs and speakers will be announced this year.

"The demand for gluten-free cooking and baking knowledge continues to increase as more individuals adopt the gluten-free lifestyle and this is the first lecture series of its kind that brings local experts together with notable restaurant chefs in a gluten-free culinary education format for the public," says Suzanne Bowland, founder and producer of GF Culinary, Productions. Bowland says she plans to roll out the lecture series in other cities across the country that will feature their local experts and top chefs, but wants Denver to be the birth place for the event. "Colorado is a leading state in the country when it comes to gluten-free diet awareness. Denver is a natural choice to introduce this new gluten-free culinary education format," Bowland says.
